Customer Reviews:
Depends on your goals and expectations

I have to admit that my only background with night vision devices has been with later-generation goggles in the military. As such, my expectations and review criteria might be a bit different than some.I purchased this monocular for a camping trip, in the hopes of being able to watch woodland critters going about their natural activities. I found that my ability to do that was dependant on many variables. In normal (non-IR) mode, it’s only MARGINALLY (infinitesimally…not much) better than normal night vision. In an open field, with full moonlight, you can clearly see a medium-sized dog running around out to about 30 feet. Out to 100 feet, you can tell that there’s something moving out there. Beyond that, everything blends.
While all of this is greatly enhanced by switching on the IR source, it’s (literally) a bright red spot which lets the rest of the world know you’re there. It’s probably the military thing kicking in, but that REALLY bugs me. While (in theory)only insects and reptiles are able to see IR light, I was able to see the IR source itself from 50 feet away. The main problem I have with this unit, is that it becomes completely dependent on the IR source to have any use. As a result, every tree, twig, branch, bug, leaf, etc etc….between you and the thing you want to see…blocks some of that IR light. The heavier the woods are, then, the more your distance is limited. Kinda like using a flashlight, actually.
So bottom line: Fun as a toy, but I would NOT count on it in a situation where I needed night vision for my survival, safety or security.
I can’t say that this unit is any better or worse than any other Gen-1 unit. I can say that Bushnell’s pricing people should be commended. If I had paid any more than $130-something, I would be returning it for a refund. I’m sure, though, that as long as it lasts, I’ll have enough near-perfect conditions to play around with it and get my money’s worth.
good product. does what it says.

the Bushnell night watch is a good toy, but nothing for serious use.In a dark room I couldn’t see anything at all with out the IR light on. No shapes, no outlines, nothing.
With the IR light on I could see pretty well in the dark. Focus is not perfectly clear, but adequate. The objective is pretty small, but I can read the label on a cereal box in complete darkness from about 25 feet away. From farther I can make out shapes and outlines.
It wasn’t exactly a waste of money, but it isn’t as fun or useful as I thought it would be, and in hindsight I don’t think I’d buy it again.
First night-vision device

This is the first time I’ve ever bought and owned a night-vision specific optical device and I must say that I am quite satisfied with my choice. I did a lot of reading and researching before I finally decided to pick this particular Bushnell model. All the reviews from Amazon customers helped a lot in my decision. This model is perfect for the purpose I intended for it which is to simply have a way to look at the areas outside my house at night. I intentionally did not pick a model which had a lot of magnification since I didn’t need it.
I strongly recommend this model for those looking for their first night-vision optical device. I only gave it 4 stars because I think there should have been some sort of lanyard for the scope cap so you won’t lose it when using the monocular.
Having said that, I will start saving up so I can upgrade to maybe a Gen 2 or 3 monocular or binocular.
Amazon.com Product Description
Bushnell has engineered the Nightwatch 2×24 with Built-In Infrared Monocular to produce images with resolution that rivals costly Generation 2 and 3 optics. Using a powerful infrared spotlight that produces sharp images even in pitch darkness, the Stealthview monocular is ideal for a wide variety of applications including security and surveillance, camping, night fishing, navigation, and wildlife observation. This powerful infrared technology works by providing a light source for the Nightwatch system to amplify and collect through an objective lens. This collected light is then processed through an image sensor to produce a high-quality image that is magnified at 2x.
Designed for use in a variety of terrains, the lightweight Nightwatch monocular features a built-in tripod mount and rugged rubber armor around an ergonomically shaped body for added comfort during prolonged use. The Nightwatch monocular operates on two AA batteries and provides a viewing range of up to 700 feet, making it the perfect nightvision monocular for nighttime adventures.

Stream Men in War Movie Online. Movie Title: Men in War
Average customer review:
Men in War is available for streaming or downloading.
Anthony Mann’s “Men in War,” along with Sam Fuller’s “Steel Helmet,” is the most realistic, tough-as-nails war film made in the ’50s.
This is ANTYTHING BUT your standard Hollywood treatment. “Men in War,” along with Mann’s illustrious Westerns is a demonstration model of the ‘vulgar subtlety’ with which Mann subverts Hollywood convention to craft a masterpiece.
And what can you say about Robert Ryan? Easily one of the greatest actors of all time, and one of the coolest. Ryan OWNS this film like he owned Ophuls’ Noir film “Caught,” (even outshining James Mason in that one) and Aldo Ray steps up to Ryan’s challenge with a truly phenomenal performance. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
“Men in War” makes one wish Anthony Mann had directed more war films. This is an wonderful, character-driven epic. It is a prime example of the old, unflinching kind of war film that began to appear after the Korean conflict. Undeservedly neglected, this describe ranks with Lewis Milestone’s “Pork Nick Hill” and Robert Aldrich’s “Attack”. And it is the progenitor of “Platoon” and “The Thin Red Line”. with their complex characters and situations.

Every actor seems to give his best, with exceptional moments from Robert Ryan, Aldo Ray and Robert Keith, as a shell-shocked Colonel. And it is always estimable to notice the admirable Pine, Morrow, Persoff and Edwards. The film has a stark, yet graceful unlit & white leer which is appropriate for the bare bones conflicts the epic sets forth. Moreover, “Men in War” features a very gorgeous win by Elmer Bernstein, utilizing an authentic Korean folk song.

Customer Reviews:
Technology not ready for prime time

Update April 6, 2010: After several additional conversations with ‘Cal’ at Hawking home automation tech support, I have finally given up on the Hawking gateway and camera, tossed both in the garbage bin, and purchased a Vera gateway from MiCasaVerde. I have been able to attach to all devices in my home and have everything working perfectly (including the Wayne-Dalton thermostat). The Vera control website is easy to use and there is no subscription fee (unlike Hawking). Additionally, there is a very active forum on the MiCasaVerde website that is excellent in terms of describing proper device set-up, potential modifications, etc. I regret having wasted as much time and money as I did on the Hawking set-up, but I’m thrilled with the Vera and with MiCasaVerde. If you are considering the Hawking gateway – just don’t. Buy a Vera.Original Review: I did quite of bit of research looking for technology that would let me control lights, appliances and thermostat settings via the internet for our vacation home. From a design perspective, Hawking’s z-wave controller has all of the features I was looking for. Individual devices can be turned on and off, devices can be linked to simultaneously turn on or off and “scenes” can be created to execute a series of commands based on a schedule or the activation of a single device (e.g. turn on one light and a series of devices can be turned on).
But great designs are worthless if the technology is extremely immature and/or full of bugs. Compound these problems with one of the worst tech support groups I’ve ever dealt with and you’ll have Hawking’s Home Automation product group (note – Hawking’s home automation tech support is not the same as the India-based group that supports their networking and computing products…unfortunately Home Automation seems to be staffed by one gentleman named “Cal” whose standard answer is “send an email to the product manager” – not one of which as ever been answered).
I have been able to get lights and appliances to turn on/off on a basic schedule. Now the list of things that don’t work. I have reported all these to Hawking with not a single response (as yet – but I’m still hoping!) from the mysterious product manager:
1. The gateway does not recognize my Wayne Dalton thermostat as a thermostat. As a result, I can not adjust temperature settings or even see the current temperature in the house. This is a known problem – still waiting for a fix from Hawking. No response since July 2009
2. The gateway gets its current time from Hawking’s servers. The Hawking server time is now off by two hours. To fool the server, I have to set all of my on/off times two hours earlier than I actually want them to occur. Problem reported to Hawking in April 2009 with no response from the “product manager”.
3. Hawking’s HRPC2 camera (designed to work with this gateway) would not work as long as I was using a Motorola cable modem and wireless router. Reported the problem to tech support (Cal, as usual) and was told that there was no problem. When I finally switched to a Linksys router, I got the camera to work (after several hours of playing with settings). Unfortunately the picture quality is terrible and many of the features do not work as described.
You should be able to tell that I really, really, REALLY want this technology to work. I have dozens of hours invested in trying workarounds and dealing with “Cal”, the solo tech support guy. Unfortunately, it’s just too full of bugs and Hawking seems disinterested in this part of their product line. I suspect that they haven’t sold enough of these things to warrant any real effort. If they’d just work with me, I would happily update this review. Reading the reviews for the HRPC2 camera (all of which are 1-star), I see that I’m not alone in my frustration with Hawking. I have started researching alternative technologies and can’t wait to toss all of this Hawking equipment in the garbage bin.
Yes it’s not great, but it does work, once it is properly configured

I have had some version of this product for over 3 years and I can agree with the other reviewers that the tech support for this product is about as bad as it gets. There is one U.S. based tech support person who only works M-F during business hours in the Pacific time zone. Having said that, I can say that this unit does control the Wayne -Dalton Thermostat and various light switches and appliances. I was looking for an inexpensive home automation solution to control my vacation cabin and this seemed to fit the need. Now here is where reality sets in. You have to be somewhat of a DIY’er with this stuff. Hawking (and to some extent, the Z-Wave community) definitely makes you think this stuff is plug & play right out of the box. It isn’t. In a perfect world it is, but everyone’s setup is different and things always don’t work as advertised. Sometime you have tinker with things here and there. Example, getting the HomeRemote Pro to recognize the Wayne-Dalton thermostat can be somewhat tricky – press the “Bind” button on the thermostat too long when setting it up and it shows up on the HomeRemote Pro as an On/Off switch not as a thermostat. So why am I giving it 3 stars? Well, it should be 2 1/2 stars. Once you get things working – it stays fairly reliable and I really like the web interface. The scenes (timers) that can be set up are not that sophisticated, but it does the job. This is probably the least expensive intelligent Z-wave controller out there. For under $200 you can get this and a Wayne-Dalton thermostat to control the heat and air conditioning in a remote home. If I was starting over, I would probably go with the MiCasaVerde Vera – it is way more robust and their tech-support is 1st rate, but it is not inexpensive. How Much Does the HomeRemote Pro Website Membership Cost?

I have looked and I can not find any mention of what it cost to sign up for the HomeRemote Pro Website membership, so that I can access a HomeRemote Pro system remotely via my cell phone. If anyone finds this info please post it here because I do not want to drop $100 on a “HomeRemote Pro starter kit” just so I can sign up for the HomeRemote Pro remote access to see if the monthly/yearly subscription price is reasonable.

- Uses Z-Wave wireless mesh technology.

Note: this product includes only the Pro Internet Gateway. How the HomeRemote Pro Monitoring System Works
The HomeRemote Monitoring System is an award-winning system that lets you monitor your home, secure it from intruders, and control its appliances and power usage via a cell phone or an Internet browser while you’re

working, at school, or even traveling abroad. You can also use it to monitor your children or pets, or keep tabs on an elderly family member. And business owners can use the system to keep an eye on their premises or employees.
By connecting the Pro Internet Gateway to your Internet router, you’ll effectively create a wireless network that “connects” your home to the Internet. And by adding HomeRemote Pro accessories to your home, such as a Pro Door Sensor or Pro Lamp Module, or other HomeRemote Pro-enabled products, such as Electrical Appliance modules or Pro Motion Detectors (sold separately), you’ll have the option of remotely controlling your heating and cooling system, lighting, blinds, garage door, and virtually any electrical appliance in your home.
If you want to add surveillance features to your property, by installing HomeRemote Pro video cameras, such as the Wireless Video Camera or Video Camera with Night Vision, you can monitor your premises 24/7 in real time from virtually any place in the world.
Award-Winning Z-Wave Wireless Technology
At the heart of the HomeRemote Pro System is Z-Wave wireless “mesh” technology, an award-winning wireless standard for home automation. Unlike traditional remote technologies that rely on

infrared signals, Z-Wave is not affected by walls or other barriers, and it offers two-way communication, giving you confirmation that your commands were received and executed. With Z-Wave, the guesswork and finger-crossing is taken out of the equation.
Because each “module” or HomeRemote Pro accessory acts as a repeater that extends the distance of the Z-Wave signals, with a few easily installed and strategically placed HomeRemote Pro accessories, your entire home can be covered in a matter of minutes without any hard-wiring or special installation.
Easy Set Up: No Special Tools or Wiring Required
Setting up a HomeRemote Pro Monitoring System up couldn’t be easier. Once you connect the Pro Internet Gateway to your router, you log into the HomeRemote Pro Web site, where you can customize your HomeRemote Pro System by naming the rooms in your home. (You can also personalize your HomeRemote Pro Web page with photos of yourself and other custom touches.) Then it’s just a matter of plugging accessories into outlets throughout your home and adding them to your system. The “installation” of HomeRemote Pro accessories is as easy as plugging in one of the several HomeRemote Pro modules into available electrical outlets. Once the modules, which are about the size of typical home appliance timers, are connected, you simply plug your lamp or appliance into it. The modules let you control appliances remotely (you can schedule them, or turn them on or off on demand), and they will also act as “repeaters” that effectively extend your home’s Z-Wave wireless network.
You’re now ready to control your home through a browser from anywhere in the world. And by adding your cell phone number to your account settings, your Internet-enabled cell phone can be used to control your home and even stream video of particular rooms.
Note: HomeRemote Pro has two levels of services, basic and pro. Some features mentioned above require a pro-level service. Click here for a comparison chart of the differences in features and capabilities between the basic and pro-level services.
Other HomeRemote Pro Features
The HomeRemote Pro System offers several customization and monitoring features that give you the ultimate in control and oversight of your home.
Using your cell phone, you can access your HomeRemote-connected appliances and surveillance equipment from anywhere. View larger.
The system’s Scene/Scheduler feature allows you to create a rule that applies to a group of different appliances. For example, instead of turning all your lights off one by one from your cell phone as you’re leaving your house, you can set a Scene called “All Lights Off” that turns off all your lights with the press of a button, or turns them off on schedule you’ve created.
The Alerts and Notifications feature send email and text (SMS) message alerts to designated recipients whenever a specific event, such as the opening of a door, occurs within a room. Device Linking allows one module or sensor to trigger other modules to turn on or off. Opening a door, for instance, could trigger all the lights in your home to turn on.
The optional Pro Video Camera (L) and Pro Video Camera with Night Vision (R) lets you monitor your home from anywhere in the world. View larger.
And to help you keep an eye on your property, Activity Logs let you view recent and past events in your home if you suspect suspicious activity, or if you simply want to monitor your home while you’re away.
Expanding your HomeRemote Pro System
The HomeRemote Pro System can be customized to grow as your needs grow. You can add additional HomeRemote Pro Wireless Door Sensors, Motion Detectors, Appliance Modules and Lighting Modules, or specialty products, such as window shades, thermostats, garage door openers, keyless door locks, light switches, and outdoor lighting modules from other HomeRemote Pro compatible manufacturers. The HomeRemote Pro System is compatible with all products featuring the award-winning Z-Wave technology logo.HomeRemote Pro Services

Customer Reviews:
Kodak Z981

I have had my Z981 for two weeks and I have given it a thorough testing. My son is a professional photographer and he told me that I would be disappointed with this camera. I told him that I would give it a real-world test and, if I was disappointed, I would send it back.First the cons: 1) The On/Off toggle switch is awkwardly placed. It is almost impossible to turn the camera on (or off) without moving (changing) the Mode dial. 2) The battery compartment is easy to open but very difficult to close and lock (I use my car key to slide it). Also, make sure the camera works once you have locked it. For some reason, this seems to be a problem. 3) A hotshoe and tilting view screen would have been nice but I knew from the specs that I would get neither. 4) The zoom on the back of the camera (rather than on the top) is awkward but I will get use to it. 5) I would have gladly paid an extra $50 to have the camera built out of heavy duty plastic.
Now the pros: 1) The photo quality is first rate. 2) The zoom is smooth but, keep in mind that in high power, you really need to steady the camera (I use a monopod). 3) The video automatically includes sound (not so with all cameras). 4) The video is very high quality (1280×720) and the optical zoom works in video mode. When playing this video, it fills my entire computer monitor – not just a little window in the middle of the monitor. 5) It uses SD cards. This doesn’t sound like much but these are much cheaper than the proprietary cards that some cameras use. 6) It uses AA batteries. Since I travel a lot in the Amazon, built-in (or proprietary) rechargeable batteries are not an option for me. 7) I love having a separate button for all of the different functions. Most cameras have a Function button that you push and then get totally lost in the maze of options, sub-options and sub-sub-options.
The price is great. I have never paid less that $600 for a digital camera.Bottom line: Great pictures, great high resolution video, 14mp and 26x zoom. It has some quirks but is a great camera at a great price.
LOVE This Camera!!…

I have only owned Kodak cameras, and the Z981 is an upgrade for me from the Z1485 and the Z712, both of which I loved. What sold me on the Z981 however, was the 26x zoom. My Z712 had a 12x zoom, which was great, and the Z1485 was only a 5x, but it’s small and pocket sized…great for throwing in my purse. Now, be advised…I am NOT a professional photographer (or anywhere near one). I am a stay-at-home-mom who has a slight obsession with cameras, but just cannot bring herself to take the SLR plunge. I take daily photos of my son, and of course, family trips/vacations. That said, this camera may be a bit much for your everyday Joe just wanting to take pictures of the family, since this IS pretty large and quite bulky to to carry around once it’s in a case…though I certainly don’t mind.In my trials with this camera, I have found only a couple things that I’m not completely happy with. That main one is the battery compartment. While easy to open (just slide the tab and it pops open), it’s darn near IMPOSSIBLE to close. I have to use a small screwdriver to slide the tab over once the batteries are in place. Also, when taking video, if you zoom in, it takes a few seconds for the focus to right itself, which may not seem like a big deal, but 5 seconds can be a long time on a short video clip.
As for everything else…I’m thrilled. While the on/off switch may be in an awkward place for some people, it’s located in the same spot on the Z712, so I was already used to that. All the dial settings are very easy to use, and when you switch to each one, there’s a brief explanation on what conditions you would use that particular setting for. Of course, my favorite is the ‘Children playing in sunlight’ setting. I can take crisp, clear pics of my boy while he’s running around, and not have to worry about them being blurry, or dark. Also, (and one of the most important things, at least for me), the click-to-capture speed is VERY fast. When I push that button, it takes the picture…and I can take multiple pictures, one right after the other, with no delay.
The Share feature is also very neat. I’ll admit, I’m still getting comfortable with using the App, but it’s coming a little easier to me now. You’ll have to download the Share App to your computer if you wish to use this feature. It’ll take about 10 minutes to set it up. I think the main reason I love Kodak so much is their user friendly approach to picture taking…it’s why they’re the only brand of camera I’ve ever used. The Kodak EasyShare program is SIMPLE to use, and a great place to store or alter your pictures. Their cameras (even one as advanced as this particular model) are very easy to get the hang of after a bit of practice. If you’re at all interested in this camera, I say go for it. I’m VERY pleased with mine, however, as I said, it may be a little much for the casual picture taker.
The upgrade I wanted!

I have used the Kodak Z740 for several years. It is a great camera and it was going to take a lot for me to upgrade. The Z981 has exactly the added features I wanted. It has anti-shake technology, a higher zoom than the Z 740 and still runs on AA batteries. It also takes panoramic pictures, which I really like.It is a little bigger and heaver than my old camera, but ONLY a little. So, even with the zoom lens fully extended, I have no trouble holding it steadily. It is comfortable in my hands and I like the ergonomics. The buttons are easy to press, while I am looking through the viewfinder. Through its entire range, from wide angle, to 26x zoom, its pictures are crisp.
Some reviewers have said that the battery door is hard to close. It is a bit difficult, but I am a middle-aged woman and can close it with just my hands. So I do not consider this a problem.
It is not hard to start taking good pictures with this camera. But it does quite a lot, so I do recommend reading the extended user manual on line. I took some shots of water drops coming from a garden hose, to test the burst mode. They came out crystal clear.
I am very happy with this purchase. I can’t wait to get out and do some nature photography.

Features
- Responder Sst Remote For Viper 5900 and Viper 5500
Easy to add to current system

I bought this as a spare remote for my Viper 5900 alarm. If you have the alarm already, it works exactly the same as the remote that comes with the alarm. Syncing it is very easy, instructions are on the back of the packaging. If you are looking for an alarm…this is only the remote. Also works with DEI Python’s with the same remote

I bought this as a spare remote for my Directed Electronics Python car alarm (I don’t have remote start installed) installed back in 2008. This Viper remote looks very similar to my Python remote (other than the different names stamped on the top, the other obvious difference is that my Python remote is black while the Viper is dark blue). Both are Model 7701V and my local installer got the Viper to accept the programming. So make sure that the back of your remote has Model 7701V stamped on it.Note: If you have two remotes and if the remote that you are not using is in range, it takes about 20 seconds for it to receive the lock/unlock status from the car.
Great buy

This is the cheapest price I’ve found on this item other sites wanted $150.00 – $225.00 for the remote alone or it only came with the whole system im so glad i checked here. I needed a spare for my mom now i dont have to worry about giving her mine all the time. -
